Stars Fall Short, 6-5, at Chicago | The Chicago Cougars beat the Los Angeles Stars, 6-5, at Cougars Park. The Cougars got a fine performance from center fielder Jerry McMillan, who was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. John Mitchell, the winner, goes to 3-1. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 6 innings. Pug White earned the save, his 12th, for the Cougars.
Chicago took a 6-4 lead on McMillan's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Sy Dunn in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Chicago to the win.
