Cleveland Rallies to 6-4 Win | The Cleveland Foresters besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Los Angeles left fielder Jack Welch by beating the Stars, 6-4, at Bigsby Stadium. Welch was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. John Jackson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Cleveland is now 60-43, while Los Angeles is 46-58.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Sherry Doyal to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Foresters on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Doyal said afterward that "winning is the goal." | |
