McGonigle Excels in 9-4 Washington Win
The Washington Eagles beat the New York Gothams, 9-4, at Gotham Stadium. Rats McGonigle, who finished 5th in the FA in runs with 104 in 1948, starred for Washington. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 6. Bob Haverhill went 7.1 innings for Washington to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 3.
