Williams Delivers Walk-Off Win for Foresters
Cincinnati got a valiant performance from pitcher Jim York, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cleveland Foresters. Cleveland won the game, 4-3. York threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Johnny Ogden, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The Foresters raised their record to 14-6.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Cleveland. That's when Paul Williams, who finished 3rd in the FA in OPS with 1.030 in 1953, hit a run-scoring triple off Paul Williams to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"We're playing like we're capable of," said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead.
