Gothams Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Minutemen, 4-3
The New York Gothams and Boston Minutemen fought to the finish at Gotham Stadium.

The Boston Minutemen got a sterling performance from pitcher George Kollock, but the New York Gothams still prevailed, 4-3. Kollock threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. New York reliever Bill Howard was the winner. His record is now 6-13. The losing pitcher was Bob Hollister.

Had Frank Arnold not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Arnold hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Gothams.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Bill Freeman.

The win makes New York 73-81.
