Chiefs Sunk by Eagles | The Washington Eagles got a marvelous performance from pitcher Bob Ball. The right-hander kept the Chicago offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Washington victory at Columbia Stadium. Ball got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 8 hits and walked 3 over 8.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Eagles move to 17-20 with the win, while the Chiefs drop to 19-18.
Ralph Weatherbee, who is tied for 8th in the FA in stolen bases with 3, contributed to the Washington win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
