Chiefs Take Nail-Biter Over Suns | Chicago starter Bud Andrews pitched well against the Los Angeles Suns at Whitney Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-4, in 10 innings. Chicago pitcher Al Mielcarek got the win. He's now 2-0. Whitey Stewart was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts Chicago at 43-30 for the season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Chicago right fielder Gene Rader, facing Whitey Stewart, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Chiefs the 5-4 win.
"We had a chance to win," said Los Angeles manager Bill Morrill, "but we didn't get it done." | |
