McClure Stars in 9-4 Foresters Win
Foresters catcher Larry McClure put his stamp on his team's 9-4 win over the Los Angeles Stars. McClure went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 4 and driving in 2 for Cleveland in the contest. The winning pitcher was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Hugh Blumenthal. He tossed 130 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. The loss drops Los Angeles to 11-10.

Hugh Blumenthal had a big grand slam home run for the Foresters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cleveland leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from Eli Panneton, who finished 4th in the CA in wins with 17 in 1948, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Foresters on top, 6-1.

"No time for flexing," said Blumenthal. "It's always one game at a time."
