Miners Slap 6-2 Loss on Chiefs | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Pittsburgh Miners and Chicago Chiefs.
Pittsburgh Miners starter Pat Simon was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Chicago Chiefs, 6-2. Simon, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks.
The Miners got a big at-bat from second baseman Dixie Turner. For the game, Turner went 2 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead.
"We had a good game plan," Simon said, "and we were able to execute it."
