Newman Lifts Kings to 6-4 Win
In the 6-4 Kansas City win over Cleveland, the impact of Ken Newman was substantial. Newman, who finished 4th in the CA in RBI with 77 in 1952, went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Kansas City reliever Beau McClellan picked up the win, raising his record to 4-9. Adrian Czerwinski was tagged with the loss. The victory gives Kansas City a record of 50-35.

Newman had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch sinker from Adrian Czerwinski, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Kings a 6-4 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Newman.

"Confidence breeds confidence, Kansas City manager Glenn Carney said, "and confidence breeds success."
