Miners Down Chiefs, 4-3 | The Pittsburgh Miners and Chicago Chiefs played an exciting game.
The Pittsburgh Miners defeated the Chicago Chiefs, 4-3, in Federal Association action at Fitzpatrick Park. Pittsburgh pitcher Les Bradshaw had a standout performance. The winner was Bradshaw. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Jim Carter. Rex Dziuk finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Roy Rutter, the Pittsburgh third baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 2-0, Miners. For the game, Rutter was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Bradshaw.
