Cougars Earn Late 2-1 Win | The Chicago Cougars got a strong performance from pitcher Hank Walker, who stymied the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Cougars Park. Pug White, who finished 2nd in the CA in wins with 18 in 1959, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Ted Ferguson. The win puts Chicago at 8-7.
Chicago got a knockout punch from Dutch Miller. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Runs were at a premium," said Chicago manager Buck Cuppett. | |
