Chiefs Deal Minutemen 4-2 Loss | The Chicago Chiefs racked up a win at Minuteman Stadium, bumping off the Boston Minutemen, 4-2. Dick Champ, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Dutch Lane picked up his 6th save of the season. The Minutemen fall to 9-14 and continue their sub-.500 start to the 1962 season.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Doc Zimmerman to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Chiefs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Champ told the Chicago Bulletin. | |
