| Saints Double Up Cougars, 6-3 | The Chicago Cougars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Gordie Irwin into a win. Instead, the Montreal Saints prevailed, 6-3. Irwin came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters. George Polk got the win, improving to 7-6. He held the Cougars to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 3. With the victory, the Saints record stands at 37-40.
Montreal right fielder Sal Pestilli contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Saints ahead, 4-1.
Pestilli said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
