Gothams Beat Dynamos, 7-3 | The Detroit Dynamos got a sterling performance from left fielder Ray Waggoner, but the New York Gothams still prevailed, 7-3. Waggoner was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. The winner in relief was Fred Rowe. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. New York is now 21-34, while Detroit is 37-19.
Fred Rowe had a big 2-run home run for the Gothams in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Dave Irwin, who is tied for 9th in the FA in wins with 6, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Gothams on top, 4-1.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Rowe. | |
