| Eagles Stumble, Lose to Dynamos | Detroit took on Washington in front of a lively crowd.
The Detroit Dynamos beat the Washington Eagles, 8-4, at Thompson Field. The Dynamos got a fine performance from right fielder Bill Morrison, who went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Rusty Petrick finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Manchester, New Hampshire-born Dan Smith came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Dynamos trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Detroit on top.
"The credit goes to our offense," said Detroit manager Dick York.
The Dynamos, at 37-29, sit in third place in the Federal Association.
