Miners Rally to Eke Out Win | The Los Angeles Suns went down to defeat to Jimmy Blair and his Pittsburgh teammates. The final score was 1-0, Miners, in 12 innings. Ted Mickiewicz picked up the win in relief for Pittsburgh, while Red Cooper took the loss. The Miners, with just their 5th win so far in 1962, have yet to catch fire.
Pittsburgh got a knockout punch from Chuck Draper. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Miners manager Harry Barrell. "This one was nice to get." | |
