Gothams Beat Boston, 5-4 | Despite the exploits of first baseman Jack Denis, the Boston Minutemen were beaten by the New York Gothams, 5-4, in 13 innings. Denis was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. New York reliever Russ Swift got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Ray Gonyea was tagged with the loss. The Gothams move to 19-25 with the win, while the Minutemen drop to 16-30.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when New York catcher Tom Brizzolara, facing Eddie Fox, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gothams the 5-4 win.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Brizzolara. | |
