| Gothams Win at Detroit, 9-4 | Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Detroit Dynamos home opener. Jack Miller started for the home team against Ed Bowman for the New York Gothams. The Dynamos were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 9-4, New York. Don Fluharty, though, was impressive. The winning pitcher was Ed Bowman. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits for the Gothams.
Hank Estill had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the first for New York. With the bases loaded and the Gothams leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Gothams manager Ad Doria.
